20 April 2006, Singapore - VivoCity, Singapores largest and most iconic retail and lifestyle destination, recently celebrated the completion of its main structure with a Topping-Out Ceremony. The event, which was officiated by Mrs Lim Hwee Hua, Minister of State for Finance & Transport, was attended by some 300 guests from embassies and high commissions, and various sectors including retail, food & beverage, arts, entertainment, health & sports, and media.
With the completion of the main structure, VivoCity is expecting to receive its Temporary Occupation Permit (TOP) in October this year. With six more months before its opening, VivoCity has already achieved 80% tenancy level and expects to be fully leased by the time it commences operations.
Anchor tenants include Golden Village, Dairy Farm and Tangs Department Store. Other signed-up tenants include fashion and lifestyle brands such as Ted Baker, Pull & Bear, Gap, TopShop, TopMan, Miss Selfridge, Nichii Fashion City, Zara, Mango, Liz Claiborne, KidStyle, Coccinelle, Metropolitan Museum of Art New York, Guess, Canon; as well as F&B outlets like Kim Gary HK Caf?, Chefs Kitchen by Crystal Jade, Megabite, Pacific Coffee Company, and more.
At the Topping-Out Ceremony, Mapletree Chairman Edmund Cheng announced that VivoCity will create some 7,000 jobs. It will hold a Job Fair in June to help its tenants recruit these staff, and train them for service excellence. Mapletree is the developer of VivoCity.
